There are three main types of hamsters which can be domesticated.

1. Syrian Hamsters

If you have this kind of hamster, make sure to separate them from the other hamsters because they are mainly territorial. They are nocturnal which are only active during night time.

2. Dwarf Hamsters

They are the most common type of hamsters which are preferred by pet lovers because they are small and are really cute. They are considered to socialize well with the same species rather than with hamsters from another species.

3. Chinese Hamsters

They have the same physical characteristics with the Dwarf Hamsters. They are also nocturnal but not that lazy compared with the Syrian Hamsters. The female Chinese Hamsters are hard to get along with other hamsters except with the ones that they are comfortable socializing with.
